Checkers

Oil on Textured Canvas
Charlie ran the general store for as long as anyone could remember. He
spoke in a high pitch with a good portion of his sentence
unintelligible. He never lost a game of checkers, ever. Folks would
gather on the porch of the store and watch him study the board
contemplating every possibility in his lucky red shirt. When he jumped
his way to the back row he would sit straight up, smile real big and say
clear as a bell, "King me" and everyone would cheer. |
