"My Land"
50 x 46 inches, Oil on textured canvas
Carl Heinz sits on a split-rail fence with a rifle across his lap
with an 'over my dead body' look
on his face as two riders approach. He and his wife, with a young son, migrated from Germany
and headed west with the promise of land. This is his land and no
man nor beast will ever pry him from it. They will get the usual dry
German tone from Carl, "Fill your canteens if you please, and
without trespass, be about your business. Thank you and good day
gentlemen".
